Skulls rush party: spring 2020 info

Everything you need to know about rushing, being a new member and what to do

PJ Kurtzner | January 22nd, 2020

IMPORTANT: The Skull's rush party is Thursday February 20th from 7pm-9pm in the Niemann Theater (Hedberg Library Room 159)!

Spring Rush is coming up quickly, and here is your guide to rushing this semester!

How Do I Rush?

Come to the rush party and sign up! If you can't make it to the party, send an email to chi@carthageskulls.org with your name and reason for being absent.

Who Can Rush?

Requirements vary from fraternity to fraternity, but the skull's requirements are pretty simple. Anyone who identifies as a man with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is eligible to rush.

Benefits of Membership

Being in Skulls is a lifelong commitment, and gives you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself. You are not paying for friends. You would be joining a line of honorable men which extends back to our founders over 160 years ago.

In addition to the lifelong friendship you'll make, being in a fraternity has a tangible return on investment. On average, Greeks have higher GPAs than non-Greeks, and Alumni Networks serve as launching points for careers. The Gamma Gamma Chapter has our own dedicated alumni association which holds professionally-oriented workshops (like this). Skulls also offers four separate leadership programs at the national level.

Will I Be Asked to Do Things I'm Uncomfortable With?

If philanthropy, brotherhood, and character development make you uncomfortable then, probably, yeah...

What is the Time Commitment Like?

It is moderately time intensive. A common comparison is between the new member process and taking on another class.

As an active, you would be required to attend chapter meetings each week, as well as philanthropy events.

What Is a Secret Fraternity?

It means that the core component of our identity, our ritual, is only known to those who are brothers.
